This course gives you the skills and confidence to assess vocational competence in structured environments like classrooms, workshops, or other training settings. Course Breakdown:

Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment.

Unit 2: Assessing vocational skills, knowledge, and understanding.

How You’ll Be Assessed:

A worksheet to test your understanding.

A portfolio of evidence, including:

Observation of an assessment you conduct.
Two assessment plans.
A witness testimony (this needs to be completed by a line manager or supervising assessor).

If you already hold an education and training qualification that includes Unit D/601/5313 (Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment), you won’t need to repeat Unit 1 and can just complete Unit 2. You need to provide your certificate in advance for verification.

Pre-requisites:

While the course is open to anyone over 19 years, you do need to be qualified in the field in which you plan to assess.

Course format:

You will have access to a pre-recorded module followed by a taught day to review Unit 1. Then, attend a second half-day for the assessment instructions for Unit 2.
