Pre-requisites
Before booking this course, ensure you meet the entry requirements. To access this course, you must hold one of the following qualifications or their recognised equivalents (for example, A1, D32/33) and have experience assessing different methods of training in your field:
- Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment
- Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
- Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
These prerequisites ensure that you have a good understanding of assessment principles and practices, which is essential when progressing to quality assurance.
Additional requirements
To gain the full award, you need to have access to two assessors, each assessing a minimum of two learners, as part of the portfolio of evidence.
Please note that simulation is not allowed, so ensure you have this in place before accessing the course. This requirement ensures that the skills you develop are applicable in real-world scenarios, reinforcing the practical value of the course.
Course Aims and Outcomes
The primary aim of this course is to equip you with the ability to assess the performance of learning and development within an organisation and to maintain the quality of assessment processes. By the end of the course, you will be proficient in:
- Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment.
- Implementing effective quality assurance processes within a training organisation or assessment centre.
- Maintaining and improving the quality of course delivery and assessment.
Course Content Overview
The course is divided into two units, each focusing on different aspects of internal quality assurance:
Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment
o This unit covers the theoretical aspects of quality assurance. You'll explore various principles and practices through a worksheet and other learning materials designed to build a solid understanding of IQA processes.
Unit 2: Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment
o This unit is hands-on, requiring you to compile a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates your ability to assure quality in real-world settings. This includes:
- IV visit letters and sampling plans
- Direct observation and professional discussion
- IV reports and standardisation activities
- Development of a personal development plan
